The Agates in Nature series: Myers’ Nodge

Myers’ Nodge

A thirsty box turtle (Terrapene ornata ornata) pauses near a small pond to examine a strange, brightly colored and strongly banded stone. The 1.70-pound spectacular “Laker” was purchased from a farmer in central Minnesota by David Myers in the early 1960’s.
